Why is it when someone runs a credit check against like (like when you apply for a card) it hurts your score?

Question by something: Why is it when someone runs a credit check against like (like when you apply for a card) it hurts your score?
Is it a business tactic? In the fact that they force you to pay for checking your credit score before you apply, so you know what it is and can decide before hand if you qualify for a loan or credit card. That’s my assumption. It seems very detrimental in my opinion, in the sense you can’t give apply for credit a shot without it really screwing you over.

For starters, a hard inquiry only dings your score a few points and your score rebounds quickly from it. People worry waaaaayyy to much about credit inquiries hurting your score.

The reason a hard inquiry has any impact on your score is not because the credit bureaus want to sell you scores or reports. It’s part of the FICO formula which the credit bureaus really don’t control. Applying for new lines of credit means you are taking on new debt obligations. If you apply for a lot of new credit, you could be taking on too much new debt which would make you a bigger risk.

Should I get a credit card? How do you choose the best credit card?

Question by Acrow: Should I get a credit card? How do you choose the best credit card?
I just finished college, and work full time. I have a debit card, and building good credit from paying off loans. A lot of people have been telling me to get a credit card, but I wonder if it really is necessary. Please give me some good reasons to get a credit card other than building good credit. The only other advantage I know about is those point-system/rewards credit cards, that earn you miles or other things. And what is the best credit card to get for a first time credit card holder? The number of choices are a little overwhelming. How did you choose your first/main credit card?

Finding the right site to apply for credit card?

Question by ethicalhacker777: Finding the right site to apply for credit card?
What is the best site to trust that isn’t a scam for a first time Credit Card user. I need one to establish credit but dont want to ruin my life by going to a site that leads me to debt and ruins my future. I’m trusting you guys to make a accurate response and lead me to a legit site that allows me to apply with no credit established and not a scam.

If you want a UP FRONT Credit Card go through your Local Bank Branch, DO NOT go through a Website as most of them are FRAUDS and either want money or share your personal information

Personal Experience I got screwed with a Visa from Capitol One and even after I closed out the account and paid them off they still charged me monthly fees which is illegal
