If the lease is in your name, and you’d have to cover the whole amount if there were no room-mates, indicate the whole amount. If you are not on the lease, signal only what you pay on a monthly basis.

Avalara’s Sales Tax SaaS Goes Mobile; Inner Fence App Will Pinpoint Precise Sales Tax Boundaries

Avalara’s industry-leading geo-location technology is now available for mobile devices

Bainbridge Island, Washington (PRWEB) December 13, 2011

Avalara, the leader and pioneer in the automated sales tax service movement, today announced its industry-leading technology is now available for mobile devices, making it the first to offer extensive sales and use tax solutions on-line, on location or on-the-go.

Inner Fence, a Seattle-based software developer of mobile credit card processing apps, is the first organization incorporating Avalara’s cutting-edge geo-location technology into a mobile payment app, which is expected to be available in early 2012.

Avalara is the first and only SaaS provider to develop and implement a sales-tax-specific geo-location engine, which uses latitude and longitude coordinates, instead of zip codes, to deliver the most accurate calculations in even the most complex jurisdictions.

According to Jared Vogt, co-founder and Chief Technology Officer at Avalara, this unmatched level of accuracy gives businesses many advantages, including greater risk mitigation in the event of an audit, and reduced customer service issues related to incorrect tax rates.

“Retailers using any location-aware mobile device can now accurately calculate sales tax data based on their exact geospatial location – even if the transaction is in a crowded farmers market, a new construction site or on an offshore oilrig,” said Vogt. Avalara also provides businesses the ability to file and remit sales tax with the highest level of confidence.

Inner Fence Co-founder Derek Del Conte says Avalara’s sales tax service will help Inner Fence set a new standard in the mobile payments industry. “Our app will automatically provide precise sales tax calculations regardless of the location,” said Del Conte. “When combined with AvaTax reports, it will be easier than ever for our merchants to fulfill their reporting requirements,” he said.

“In short, Avalara is making it easy for everyone – including mobile merchants – to get the right tax rate anytime, anywhere,” said Vogt. “There’s a clear need to simplify transactional tax compliance, and Avalara is filling it through innovation.”

Black Friday and Cyber Monday Online Shopping Safety Tips ? Avoiding Scams and Staying Secure on the Biggest Holiday Shopping Days of the Year

Black Friday and Cyber Monday Online Shopping Safety Tips – Avoiding Scams and Staying Secure on the Biggest Holiday Shopping Days of the Year

Victoria, BC (PRWEB) November 22, 2011

With over one billion dollars in online sales last year Cyber Monday surpassed Black Friday as the highest volume day for holiday shopping, re-confirming that buying gifts online has gone mainstream. One third of North American shoppers say they plan to do part of their holiday shopping on the Internet this year. With this in mind UsedEverywhere.com is offering steps that consumers can take to protect themselves.

1.    Trust Your Instincts: First and foremost, the adage “If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is” definitely applies to ecommerce. Your instincts are often the best indicator if something is amiss. Follow your gut feeling and use common sense.

2.    Report Abuse and Suspicious Looking Postings: If you feel that an ad or a posting looks suspicious report it. Many sites, especially online classifieds and ecommerce sites have ‘report abuse’ or ‘feedback’ links, use those to alert authorities. Also contact local better business bureaus and police if you feel local action can be taken.

3.    Research The Item: Do this beforehand so you know what you are buying, how much it should cost, and what shape it should be in.

4.    Find Promo Codes Before Buying: Do a Google search for the name of the product you are buying and add the words ‘coupon code’ or ‘promo code’ to the search to find any discounts that may be available for that product before you make a purchase.

5.    Never Give Out Personal Information: (When using online classifieds) Don’t give your personal information such as your social security (social insurance – in Canada) number, date of birth, banking information, your address and so on.

6.    Talk on the Phone: While email may be the most convenient, especially for initiating transactions, when possible try to speak over the phone before agreeing to a transaction or agreeing to meet if it is a local online classified transaction. If they refuse, excuses are often very revealing. Again, go with your gut.

7.    Deal Only in Cash: For online classified purchases; never wire money, send advance payments, or use your credit card. This also helps you to avoid any deals done through mail – a notorious method for running scams.

8.    Keep it Local: You can reduce your risk by keeping all transactions local. This also eliminates the need to use anything other than cash when buying or selling.

9.    Inspect Before You Buy: Never buy something that you can’t check out in-person first – not only can you assess its quality for yourself, but you can meet the seller in-person.

10.    Meet in Public: For online classified transactions, always meet to exchange in a public place and bring a friend. This protects you by not revealing your address and makes it less likely that someone will try to scam you.

11.    Don’t Go To The Car: Do not accompany a person to their car for any reason, and, of course, do not let them go to the car with items in hand if they haven’t paid for them yet.

12.    Ask Questions: Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Ask sellers why they are selling their item and about its condition. And sellers – don’t be afraid to ask buyers what their intentions are. If something sounds shady, remember you don’t owe anyone anything and you can always back out of a transaction before any money is exchanged.

13.    Keep Records: Especially if you buy and sell often – keep some sort of record of what you have bought and/or sold, where you met, and who you bought from or sold to.

Many of the tips above are focused on conducting safe online classified transactions but many can also apply to all online holiday shopping. The most important tip is: only proceed with a transaction if you are 100 percent comfortable. As a rule your instincts are your best protection.

New York Fashionista Announces Holiday Gift Trends for 2011

New York Fashionista Announces Holiday Gift Trends for 2011

New York, NY (PRWEB) December 12, 2011

The holidays are a time for family, for friends, and for the giving of gifts. Although enjoying quality time with loved ones and exchanging presents is pleasant, actually choosing those presents can be a nightmare. From hard to shop for brothers to best friends who already have everything, it can often be very difficult to choose the perfect gift for people on your list. Lindsay Morrowson, owner and leading analyst at LiMo Fashions, has recently released a list that will make choosing the perfect gifts much easier.

“Gift trends can help shoppers decide what is really in demand this season,” commented Morrowson. “If anyone is at a loss of what to get their friends or family, they can turn to these trends to push them in the right direction. Certain items are in demand for a reason, and by using this tip sheet people can make their holiday shopping excursions easier and more efficient.”

Morrowson has compiled this list through the analysis of current market trends while keeping upcoming releases under consideration. This list presents gift ideas for both women and men and will prove especially beneficial for individuals who are shopping for people they do not know very well.

TIP SHEET

1. Gift Cards: Although this gift may seem impersonal, people do enjoy using their gift cards to purchase any items they may have wanted but did not receive during the holiday season. These cards can be to their favorite stores or restaurants or, to give them more freedom, can be given from a leading credit card company and used in any store.

2. Handbags: Women love receiving quality handbags. From designer purses to department store finds, this is a gift that can fit any budget and appeal to most women.

3. Tablets and E-Readers: These products are becoming very popular and top the wish lists of many people this year.

4. Event Tickets: Gifts that also provide an experience are very special. Movie, theater, and concert tickets provide a wonderful experience and memories that will last a lifetime.

5. Organization Tools: Though this may not seem like the typical holiday gift, people are becoming more and more organized. Solutions for coupon organization, garage storage, and more are great gifts for people who want to keep their homes clean.

Question by March: What is the best credit card to apply for when trying to build a good credit?
I’ve had a secure credit card for over a year now and I’d like to apply for a normal one now. I’m building my credit and would like one without an annual fee and with good benefits like air miles etc. What should I apply for? Thanks!!!

Best answer:

Answer by stan c
After a 12 month activity, your credit score should be going up. It usually goes up between 5 to 10% per month. For airline mileage , you have to apply at one of the airlines where they have their own Visa or MasterCard.
