October is National Dental Hygiene Month: New York City Celebrity Dentist and Author Dr. Catrise Austin Says, Despite the Economy, ‘Oral Healthcare Can’t Wait™’

New York, New York (PRWEB) October 10, 2011

October is National Dental Hygiene Month and Celebrity Dentist and author Dr. Catrise Austin of VIP Smiles in New York City is launching a local consumer awareness campaign to alert residents of the New York/Tri-State community about the potential risks of postponing dental appointments and neglecting their oral health.

Dr. Austin’s Oral Healthcare Can’t Wait™ Campaign is a local component of a national awareness initiative sponsored by The Dental Trade Alliance (DTA), a nonprofit trade association representing star dental manufacturers, distributors, and laboratories.

According to Dr. Catrise Austin, “There’s no denying that the last 3 years have been tough financially for many Americans across the nation including New York residents. The current economic climate is causing many people to either postpone the dental treatment planned recommended by their dentists, or to put cancelled dental visits all. Unfortunately, there are long-term health risked associated with postponing oral care.”

Some of the health risks that Dr. Austin is referring to include the following:

•Tooth decay is a progressive disease. Postponing treatment can lead to more complex, more invasive, and more expensive treatment, such as root canals or extractions.

•According to everydayhealth.com, one study in the Australian Dental Journal pegged tooth decay as one of the most mutual infectious oral diseases. These bacterial infections can be contagious     and passed along.

•The National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR) warns that the mouth is the gateway to the body and is challenged by invasions by bacteria, viruses, parasites, and fungi. There are 120 diseases, including early signs of HIV infection, oral herpes virus, and oral cancer that can be detected while sitting in the dental chair. Some of these diseases can be asymptomatic. Postponing your dental checkup could prevent the opportunity for early detection and treatment that could prolong or even save your life.

•Recent studies that have been reexamined by The American Academy of Periodontology (AAP) have colligated undiagnosed and untreated gum disease with an electronegative impact on patients’ heart health, diabetes, pregnancy, and other systemic health conditions.

•Chronic bad breath is usually due to conditions that may be easily prevented by regular oral hygiene appointments and consultation.

“With so many populating looking for jobs or worried about their job security, it must be noted that having bad breath and discolored, damaged, or missing teeth are the kiss of death in today’s competitive job market,” explains Dr. Catrise Austin. “Your smile is the first thing employers, managers, and co-workers notice.”

Is the Oral Healthcare Can’t Wait Campaign just a way for dentists to make money during tough times? Absolutely not, says Dr. Austin. “If more people truly comprehended the connection between oral health with the rest of the body and its overall health, I believe they would prioritize their discretionary spending accordingly. Choosing betwixt undergoing gum disease or cavity treatment versus buying a new cell phone, wireless computer pad, weekly professional hair and nail grooming, or taking expensive holidaying would become a no-brainer.”

Here are some options to consider during your next dental visit:

•Dental professionals are primarily focused on prevention when their patients allow them to do so. In addition, many patients are not taking full advantage of the scope of services covered by their dental insurance. Ask your dentist what can be done to prevent cavities such as dental sealants for permanent molars as well as fluoride treatment for adults.

•Most dentists are very flexible when it comes to paying divulging-of-pocket expenses. Ask about alternative payment options like % interest financing, using a credit card, or working out an in-office payment plan.

•Talk to your dentist about prioritizing your treatment plan. Ask what needs to be done immediately and what can wait until you have more discretionary income.

Dr. Austin shares 5 tips that can infect consumers a salubrious snowy smile at home throughout the year:

1.Follow this smile workout at least doubly daily:
Brush, Floss, Rinse, and Scrape (or Brush) your tongue to keep your gums and teeth healthy and your breath fresh.

2.Drink fluoridated tap water or use a fluoride mouthwash to fight cavities

3.Read the nutritional facts on packaged food/beverage labels:
Pay special attention to the hidden sugar in your food and drinks to avoid cavities.

4.Need to rejuvenate your dull smile? Try teeth whitening!
Consider refreshing your look using the Crest 3D White Collection (less than $ 100)! Brush for 2 minutes daily with the Oral B 3D Pulsar Toothbrush and Crest 3D White Vivid Toothpaste, then rinse daily with the Crest 3D White Multicare Whitening Mouthrinse, then modifying that dazzle and by using the Crest 3D White Professional Effects Whitestrips (the most effective of all Crest Whitestrips) once daily for 30 minutes (for 3-7 days). How to Make Sense of the Terms on Your Credit Card Application

Court Tuttle asked:

You are looking through your credit card application, knowing that every detail you are reading is important. After all, you’ve heard so many times how people got fooled by credit card companies because they neglected to read the fine print. So that’s what you are trying to do now, but it’s turning out to be completely impossible!

The first step in the right direction is that you have recognized that you need to understand what you are reading. Knowing the details about your credit card application, like what your interest rates will be, if there’s an expiration date on the introductory rate, if it is a rewards card, and knowing similar details will allow you to get the credit card you want with no surprises. But how can you possibly understand what kind of a deal you’re getting if you can’t even understand the words they’re using? Here are a few terms that are often used in credit card applications and what they are referring to.

Revolving credit, or open-end credit, refers to a credit card that will allow you to charge on it up to a certain limit. This is probably the kind of credit card you are applying for. This type of credit may be used repeatedly, even after you have paid off the balance.

A fixed rate is an interest rate that will not change over the time that you have a credit card account open. Fixed interest rates are good in many cases because you can predict how much you will be paying each month, rather than having to wait and see. Still, fixed rates are often higher than variable interest rates.

Variable interest rates are those that changes according to the economy. There is a limit, however, on how high and how low the interest rates can get. This helps because, though you do not know what exactly your interest rate will be for that month, you will know what range it will be in, and you may benefit from the times that it is lower than average.

Something you can do that will help you to better understand the terminology on your credit card application is, while you are reading it, mark things that you do not understand. This way, when you can get a representative from the credit card company on the phone, you can ask them about it. Be sure that you know what they’re talking about before you go on, instead of leaving it alone because they are having a difficult time explaining it to you.

One thing that you definitely should not do is throw the papers away once you have applied for the credit card. The terms and conditions will be what the company will refer to in the future when and if you ever challenge something they did. You need to know what those terms and conditions are, be able defend your rights concerning them, and refer also to the papers on which they are printed.

All You Need to Know About Credit Cards and Credit Card Applications

Nick Makaryk asked:

“Plastic money” is a term that has been dubbed by many people around the world. This phrase is a reference to the credit card. At the rate the economy is going and the accelerating pace of life that we have these days, we want everything to be done quickly. That is why many young professionals, businessmen, big bankers, and well off students are visiting their trusted banks with their credit card application in one hand, and the need to have instant credit on the other.

In all truthfulness, credit cards and credit card applications have taken over the need for people to carry around cash and change in their pockets. A lot of people are trading in their green for a shot to have plastic. Along with a credit card application is the responsibility that many of us aren’t so aware of. When you are thinking about joining the line to get a credit card account, and people you fill out the credit card application, you have to know all of the precautions and counter measures in order for you to completely be protected by the federal law. Applying for a credit card takes time, especially when it comes to verifying the person that is applying for the credit card. Because of the U.S. Patriotic Act, further verification is needed, especially for those who are applying for anything in the United States. This includes the credit card application. Nowadays, getting things in the U.S. has almost become a chore. Since having a credit card has become top priority for many in today’s society, many are still willing to face the large amount of trouble that comes along with applying for a credit card.

The importance of having a credit card continues to grow. Even the average American needs a credit card. An average American from the middle class bracket has about eight to ten different credit cards, and usually of them at least once a day. With these types of numbers, it is not surprising that there are hundreds of credit card applications being processed each and every day. As if things couldn’t get any higher, credit card application rates are expected to jump within the next quarter. The need for credit cards as well as debit cards is nothing short of real. The market should be open and ready for more credit card applications that are sure to be heading their way in massive amounts. There will be a need for people to look into educating others on how and when it is best to use their credit cards. When you are ready to grab a pen and fill out that credit card application, know that you are taking a great step.

Most of the time, even though the credit card application is mailed to you, it says whether or not you have been approved. In any case, you are still asked to fill out a credit card application or the acceptance form that was sent to you. This is because the bank of the credit card company needs to be able to verify the identification of the person who is vying for a credit card. Today, a lot of companies offer an online application so you can easily fill out an online form which makes things much easier.

When you are filling out the credit card application, whether it be online or by mail, there are important details that you need to consider besides your name and contact information. You have to be aware that if you accept the card that you might have to face some sort of hidden fees, which can really start to add up.

Do you need to make a large purchase, or want to consolidate your credit card debt?

Paris P asked:

Fifth Third Platinum Mastercard
If you are trying to pay off your credit card debt and would like to apply for a card that has a fixed 3.9% balance transfer rate until 2010 and 0% on new purchases for one year, email me at pdiddy48071@yahoo.com with your name and phone number and I’d be glad to call you and go over all the benefits and take your application… trust me, it’s a great card (i have one myself) and with the economy the way it is, credit card rates are going up and people are tightening belts… so lock in a very low rate now while you have the chance.

If you need to make a big purchase in the next couple months (great for tuition, a new computer, etc)- apply for this card and make the purchase with it- then destroy the card (so you don’t get tempted to use it more), and make 12 monthly payments with no interest as long as you pay it off by next year! One $1000 computer = 12 $100 payments a month.

Transfer balances too! Fixed 3.9% until 1-1-2010! Email me today!
