How To Apply Credit Card Rewards To Charities

How To Apply Credit Card Rewards To Charities

One way cardholders can donate to charities is by using credit cards that specifically donate a percent of your purchase straight away to the charity. The APRs for these cards is usually not the best in the world. I wonder if the company is actually donating anything at all or rather passing the cost of the donation on to the cardholder through the higher APRs.

If you want to help a charity, look at credit cards that let you forward your points on to them. This way, you give to charities without actually giving out of your pocket. The reward points you would normally get from your credit card company go the charity of your choice. Instead of cashing them yourself, forward them to your favourite charities for their use.

It may not seem like much but every little bit counts and adds up. Charities can use the points to buy needed things and they can use travel miles.

What You Need To Do

With these imputed cards, you simply selecting the option of donating your reward points to a charity when you go to cash in your reward points online. Probably the only thing I should warn you about is that any decision you make to donate the points is permanent. You will not be able to get them back if you get donator’s regret. So think twice before clicking that button!

The Downside

The only true downside if you want to apply credit card rewards to charities is that you do not get credit for it. While you can normally use cash and time donations to lower your taxable income through tax deductions, you cannot do so when you donate your card rewards to a charity.

If the tax break is important enough, you might be better off using the credit card rewards yourself and then making a cash donation directly to the charity instead. Only in that way will you see any tax benefits.

Watch Your Balance

Remember, you do not want to end up paying unnecessary finance charges just to use apply your credit card rewards to your favourite charity. The credit card company is not going to apply any of the finance charges you pay on an unpaid balance to any charity, so giving up money like that is just money going down the drain.

If you can pay off your credit card balance each month before the grace period is over, then using a credit card for charity can served.

Choosing a rewards credit card that fits your desires is what we are all about. We provide the tools and information necessary to make an informed decision on not only the rewards credit card that best fits your goals, but also the credit card that fits your credit history. The first step in choosing a rewards credit card is to determine which rewards you want. Rewards credit cards in the UK are broken into four main categories, Shopping rewards, Travel rewards, Air Miles rewards, and Hotel accommodations rewards cards.

The advantages of rewards credit cards are obvious, cash back, shopping rewards, travel rewards all from using your credit card for everyday purchases. The more you spend, the more reward points you accumulate, and the more ‘free’ stuff you get. But lurking in the background is some ugly facts that must be evaluated before you make the plunge into the world of reward credit cards. First of all, most rewards credit cards come with an annual fee. This fee can be substantial, and over the course of a few years can eat into the benefits that you might achieve with a rewards credit card. Secondly, not all rewards are equal. Air miles points earned on the British Airways American Express card may be worth more in terms of real savings than the shopping benefits of the Egg card. You need to be aware of the value of points, and how they are earned. And finally, rewards credit cards usually have a higher annual interest rate (APR). If you plan on carrying a balance on the card, you need to be keenly aware of the interest rate(s), and how much this increased rate is going to cost you on a yearly bases. This can easily offset the advantage you can get with the rewards point you earn. Bottom line, you need to be aware of all the costs associated with rewards credit cards. These costs can very early offset the advantages of rewards you earn. If you take the time to understand all the costs associated with a rewards card, you can make an informed decisions and benefit from your spending

Get Credit With Ease Using an Online Credit Card Application

Suzanna Hardaway asked:

An online credit card application can be a highly convenient way in which to acquire credit. However, there are many different credit card providers, all of which offer their own benefits and drawbacks. For this reason, it is essential to do your own research and take the time to decide which card is the best one for your individual requirements.

It is easy to compare different cards by using online comparison websites. These websites will present you with the information you need on one site, without you having to search out the official websites of each potential charge card provider. This means less time and effort is required when it comes to choosing your provider.

Once you have decided on the best card to sign up for, you will be required to visit the company’s official website. Then you can begin your online credit card application. It is important to ensure that you read the terms and conditions associated with the card and understand and be in full agreement with them before you submit your details for consideration.

If the card features a low interest rate, check whether this is only for a limited period of time. Furthermore, read up on the potential fees and late payment charges that could be incurred. Read through the payment options the company offers and see if they offer any rewards for the use of the card. Before applying for a card, consider asking your family and friends for recommendations on the best cards to acquire. Always ensure that your chosen credit card company is held in high regard in the market.

Once you have chosen your card company, you will need to find the online credit card application form and fill it in with care. If you do not provide the company with accurate information, you are likely to get rejected for the card. Once you have submitted your application form, the company will begin to process it. This may take some time.

If you have applied for a card with a zero rate of interest, the processing time will typically be longer than that for a higher interest rate. There are a number of credit card companies available so ensure that you are serious about submitting your application because once you click to submit your details, there is no going back. If you have any doubts, it is wise to spend some more time thinking through your decision. This way, once you do acquire a card, you will know that it is the best one for you.
